Greetings

Greetings.  After some really hot August and September temperatures, I am looking forward to some cooler Fall weather. The fires in the West have been disastrous and global warming portends more to come in future months.  I hope you and your family have not been touched by either the fires or by COVID-19.

At our September Zoom meeting, Amy Abrams, the Education Director at Alzheimer’s San Diego, gave an excellent presentation on “Maintaining Your Brain Health.”

Join our October 13th Zoom meeting for our annual update from SDCERS. Given the stock market ups and downs due to the pandemic, it will be good to learn how our pension trust fund is holding up and how SDCERS has adjusted staffing and technology to serve us during this difficult time.

Also, in October, our Image Enhancement Initiative kicks into high gear.  You will begin to see REA banners at the top of the Voice of San Diego Morning Reports.  Our banner will link to a special “landing” page on our web site which describes our “Still Serving the Community” program.  Also, this month, REA will be one of the principal sponsors of Carl Luna’s USD Restoring Respect Annual Conference on October 7th.  This conference will be virtual this year and will feature Cindy McCain’s keynote address. See more info on this event in this Newsletter below.  Thanks to REA V.P. Dave Twomey for his outstanding work on this program.
